About The Book

A great book for children and a wonderful tool for parents who want to help their children's emotional awareness and development." – Nicholas Kardaras, Ph.D, Author of Glow Kids

When Lavy’s anticipation of fun at the park with Mommy is thwarted by a rainy day, she discovers that a change in plans can be a gift—if she chooses to see it that way.

Lavy’s Rainy Day shows parents and children how a shift in perception can change our emotional state and create positive experiences. Life continuously gives people of all ages challenges that sometimes seem overwhelming. Emotional intelligence (EQ) is an essential skill for being able to handle the ups and downs of daily life and is instrumental in being healthy, happy, and successful. Lavy's Rainy Day helps children develop emotional intelligence by allowing the reader to follow along as Lavy experiences her disappointments, discovers alternatives for a thwarted day, and learns the lesson that when things do not go the way we want, we can still find joy in the experience. Join Lavy as she navigates the world of emotions, relationships, and self understanding

Excerpt

Going to the park with Mommy is one of Lavy’s favorite things to do. She loves to dig in the sand, swing on the swings, and climb to the top of the play structure. Best of all, she loves sharing a picnic lunch of cheese sandwiches with Mommy. It’s going to be a great day!

“I know you are disappointed, and I know that this probably feels sad to you right now,” says Mommy. “I am a little sad too. But I wonder if we can find a gift in this rainy day.”

"In this beautifully written and illustrated children's book, Kim Tubb's has created the perfect read for this most challenging of times for our children. As our young ones struggle with Covid realities and technology overload, the essential developmental skill of Emotional Intelligence has greatly suffered, leaving them ill-equipped to handle not only life's rainy days, but even the sunny ones as well. A great book for children and a wonderful tool for parents who want to help their children's emotional awareness and development."

"The practice of emotional intelligence is the gift that allows space for heartbreak and joy, disappointment and gratitude, struggle and strength. Lavy’s Rainy Day illustrates this practice of emotional intelligence with compassion and patience. A throughline in the book’s message is the mother’s ability to affirm Lavy is capable of working through this challenge and how empowering it is to allow space for children to grow into their resilience. This kind of modeling builds connection. Brava Kim, this book will help so many!”

– Vanessa M. Sanford, MS | Licensed Professional Counselor/Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist

“Lavy’s Rainy Day beautifully illustrates an important point: gifts don’t have to be tangible to be amazing. Pull out this book with your little one on a rainy day. Kids may not ask for one-on-one time directly but they certainly crave–and need–it. Give your little one a gift of your time and attention.”
