Sharni Layton's professional netball career spanned fourteen years, including two World Cups with the Australian Diamonds, a Commonwealth Games gold medal and recognition as Australian ANZ Championship Player of the Year in 2016.

In 2018, poor mental health forced Sharni to take a six-month break from sport. In 2019, she switched codes to join the AFLW's Collingwood Magpies, where she made the league's All Australian team. Sharni now coaches netball and uses her platform to advocate for mental health. No Apologies is her first book.
