International writer’s prize announces $10,000 first prize and inclusion in published anthology by Simon & Schuster Australia.


The Hope Prize is proud to announce it is now open for submissions celebrating the themes of hope, courage and resilience.
In partnership with Simon & Schuster Australia and Readings and in support of Beyond Blue, the prize seeks to discover new writing talent and advocate for better mental health.


With a first prize of $10,000 AUD and the opportunity for winners and highly commended submissions to be featured in a published anthology, this competition promises to be a landmark event for writers and storytellers around the world.


Key details about The Hope Prize include:
1. $10,000 first prize:
Sponsored by Simon & Schuster Australia, the top prize for this competition is $10,000 AUD.
Second prize is $2,000 AUD and third prize is $1,000 AUD, sponsored by Readings and The Hope Prize.


2. Inclusion in a published anthology:
Winners and highly commended writers will have their works featured in an anthology published by Simon & Schuster Australia. The royalties from this anthology will be donated to mental health charity, Beyond Blue.


3. High profile judging panel:
The esteemed judging panel is made up of leaders from the worlds of literature, academia and politics, including former Prime minister Julia Gillard (AC),former Governor General Dame Quentin Bryce (AD, CVO, FAAL, FASSA), author and academic Dr Tony Birch, Chairman of Readings Mark Rubbo and Managing Director of Simon & Schuster Australia, Dan Ruffino.


The Hope Prize is open to writers over 18 from all walks of life, regardless of background or experience. It welcomes short submissions between 2,000 and 5,000 words in either fictionor nonfiction. There is a 22 AUD entry fee to cover administrative costs.


"We believe in the transformative power of words, and in these challenging times, hope is more essential than ever," said Quentin Bryce, founding judge of the Hope Prize. "This competition is not just about winning a prize but sharing stories that can inspire and uplift others."
