SCRIBNER AUSTRALIA TO PUBLISH A NEW BOOK BY LEIGH SALES

Scribner Australia is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a new non-fiction work by one of the nation's most influential and respected journalists and reporters, Leigh Sales.

Storytellers: Questions, Answers and the Craft of journalism will contain ten sections on subjects ranging from news reporting to investigative journalism, editing, and the art of the interview. Sales will take readers on a tour of her profession, asking top Australian journalists about how they chase their leads, survive in war zones, tell a story with pictures, and get the inside scoop. Giants of Aussie journalism including Lisa Millar, Kate McClymont, Hedley Thomas, Trent Dalton, Benjamin Law, Tracy Grimshaw, Richard Fidler, David Speers, Stan Grant, Niki Savva, Waleed Aly, Annabel Crabb, Karl Stefanovic, Mia Freedman and more talk candidly about their trade secrets and the lessons they have learned.

Sales views the book as a way to share some of the extraordinary insights she's gleaned from colleagues over the course of her career: 'So much of what I've learned in journalism has been because of generous colleagues who've passed on their skills and knowledge. I wanted to do this book as a way to pay it forward. Plus I have always found the public is really interested in what goes on behind-the scenes too.'

Ben Ball, publishing director of Scribner Australia, stated: 'We are deeply honoured to be publishing Leigh Sales's new book, Storytellers. Leigh is one of Australia's most able and beloved storytellers herself  someone whose inquiring mind, forensic questioning and laser-sharp prose has helped Australians better understand themselves and the world, in many different formats. Storytellers is, characteristically, something new, taking us behind the scenes of her own profession  both an exploration of and a masterclass in journalism, showing us how the stories that help shape our lives get told.'

Scribner Australia has acquired world rights to Storytellers: Questions, Answers and the Craft of Journalism

and will release it on the 30th of August 2023.
