About The Book

The story of how one entrepreneur turned his quirks, flaws, and unconventional thinking into a multi-billion-dollar success.

Anton Rabie, co-founder and chair of Spin Master—the global company behind iconic kids’ brands like Paw Patrol and Rubik’s Cube —has never fit the mold. Dismissed as a lost cause in school, he went on to build one of the most innovative toy and entertainment companies in the world by embracing exactly what made him “different.” In The Difference in Being Different, Rabie reveals how his quirks, vulnerability, obsessions, and unconventional approach to nearly everything, became his greatest assets, and how others can learn to turn what sets them apart into their own source of power.

Through captivating stories, actionable insights, and helpful tips, Rabie shares the lessons he learned from decades of building and scaling a company against the odds. Along the way, he offers readers a framework for using difference as a competitive advantage in business and in life.

Readers will learn how to:
  • Identify and leverage their uniqueness—and the uniqueness of others.
  • Leverage failures, setbacks, and negative feedback to learn and grow.
  • Build lasting partnerships and create goodwill that transforms relationships and networks.
  • Find comfort in discomfort and reframe setbacks as opportunities.
  • Use counterintuitive approaches to influence and lead effectively.
  • Navigate difficult situations and people with resilience and creativity.
  • Discover the power of mindset, mantras, and personal rituals.
  • Trust intuition and the body’s signals when making high-stakes decisions.

Whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, a founder wrestling with the realities of growth, a student seeking more than textbook theories, or a leader ready to shake free of convention, The Difference in Being Different offers the reassurance that standing apart may just be the most powerful way to stand out.
