About The Book

Some families inherit fortunes. Others inherit revolutions.

OVERVIEW

When legendary filmmaker Lasse Braun announces he's disappearing on one final "mission," his son Axel expects another of his father's elaborate fantasies. Instead, the conversation opens the door to a lifetime of astonishing stories—stories of rebellion, privilege, deception, and the unlikely rise of a young Italian aristocrat who refused to accept the future his family had planned for him.

Expelled from law school after publicly denouncing censorship, Alberto Ferro abandons a life of diplomatic prestige in favor of a far more dangerous pursuit. Armed with little more than charm, audacity, and diplomatic immunity, he embarks on a whirlwind journey across Europe, transforming a chance encounter in a Belgian basement into an underground publishing empire that challenges the moral boundaries of an entire generation.

From the glamorous cafés of Milan and the nightclubs of Antwerp to the underground music scene of Hamburg and the bohemian streets of Stockholm, Alberto navigates a world of artists, smugglers, dreamers, and outlaws, where every opportunity comes with impossible risks—and every victory demands a greater compromise.

At once hilarious, provocative, and deeply human, The Braun Identity is an epic historical novel about family legacy, reinvention, and the price of living by your own rules. Rich with unforgettable characters, razor-sharp dialogue, and larger-than-life adventures, it is the story of one extraordinary family whose influence would ripple far beyond the shadows in which it began.
