About The Book

Discover the stories behind the songs, the artists and the movements that have inspired generations.

Sometimes, we are just waiting for a spark.

From Billie Holiday to Bruce Springsteen, Bob Marley, John Lennon or Lady Gaga, from “Bella Ciao” to “Alright”: spanning more than half a century, continents and languages, music in the modern world has shaped moments and movements in ways few other art forms can. With music, there is no place we can’t go. No truths too hard to tell, no stories too difficult to sing. This book is about impact. The moments when songs shifted thinking, spurred action, or gave people a voice they didn’t know they had.

About The Author

AUTHOR LIVES IN MELBOURNE, VICTORIA. Andrew Clarke is a lifelong music fan. From his early days embracing The Sweet and Kiss, his interests took a sharp turn with the Sex Pistols, and he’s never stopped craving music with meaning. He managed a band in the 1990s that he still believes should have become megastars; instead, they all learned about the harsh realities of the industry. Andrew lives in Melbourne, Australia, with his two now-adult children, who share his musical fascination and obsession to varying degrees, and a vinyl collection that continues to expand.
