About The Book

How do roosters say cock-a-doodle-do around the world? Join Roo as he travels across cultures, discovering new places, new friends, and the many ways to say hello.

Roo the rooster likes his home on the farm, so he has no idea what to expect when his family decides to take a trip around the world. As he explores new––to him––places, he learns to shake off his fears and make new friends wherever he goes, learning that each of his new friends has a special way of saying hello.

From Mexico City, Mexico, to Tokyo, Japan, Maddison Dudley’s debut picture book explores the language of roosters all over the world while introducing children to celebrated landmarks and locations. With luscious illustrations by Violaine Costa, Roo’s animal world is brought to life as a mirror to our own—full of fun details, bright colors, and captivating characters. And with a location glossary and pronunciation guide in the back, readers will be crowing with delight for more!
