When you are born your mother and your aunties wrap you in a possum skin. Your possum skin holds you and you grow together. It tells who you are and where you come from. It keeps you always in the warmth of belonging.

About The Authors

Aunty Fay Muir is a senior Boon Wurrung and Wamba Wamba Elder, First Nations community leader and Koori Court Elder. She is a Language Specialist, working as a prison educator in First Nations languages and is a creative language revival consultant and collaborator. 

Sue Lawson’s books have won the Australian Family Therapists’ Award for Children’s Literature and have been short-listed for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards and the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards.

About The Illustrator

Leanne Jones is a contemporary Indigenous Australian Artist. She is a Dharug, Wirradjuri Nyaampa woman who lives and creates on Dharug Country. She is deeply connected to her Culture, Country and Community and has been creating art from a young age and has won many awards. Her Paintings are Representational, to tell stories of Place, Family, History and Culture.
