1 What You See Is What You Get

My name is Bo. I’m a farm pup. Always have been, and I’m pretty sure I always will be.

Life sure is great here at the Davis family farm.

There are loads of animal friends to play with, and there’s always fun stuff to do.

I like to say the farm is an open book… which means, what you see is what you get.

There aren’t many mysteries around here. But pups like me love a good mystery. Sneaking around, solving problems, going on wild adventures… yeah, mysteries are cool!

And I needed a brand-new mystery to solve!

But I couldn’t start a new mystery until I finished doing all my puppy chores.

First I got up from my puppy bed and stretched. Stretching feels so good, from the top of your nose to the tip of your tail.

Then I got all my puppy zoomies out. Zoomies are when you have so much energy that you have to zoom!

Sometimes I zoom in circles. Sometimes I zoom in a straight line. Today I zoomed zigzags all around the living room. It was so the best!

Next it was time for breakfast!

My human siblings are Wyatt and Imani. They filled my food dish with kibble.

It tasted so good after all that running. I gobbled down every last bite and licked the bowl clean!

Then I slurped up the coldest, freshest water.

Now, that is a puppy morning done right.

Time to go out and check on the other farm animals. It was a big pup job to make sure everyone was okay.

  The pigs were busy eating.

My friend Zonks could do a magic trick when he ate. He just opened his mouth, stuck his head in his trough, and then everything disappeared—fast.

       “Nice trick, Zonks!” I called.

Zonks oinked a hello with a snout covered in food.

I wagged my tail, then made my way to the barn, where the horses chewed on their hay.

My friend Comet was not a fast eater. She nibbled one strand of hay at a time.

I sniffed the hay. It did not make me hungry. It made me sneeze. Ah-choo!

    “Bless you, Bo!” Comet said.

“Thanks, Comet! Have a nice breakfast!” I called.

Then I went back outside to check on the chicks and chickens in the coop. They were walking around and pecking at their seed feed.

I watched carefully to make sure no funny business was going on. Sometimes those fluffy chicks could get goofy, but it looked like they were having an ordinary day.

Hmm, I was having an ordinary day too.

At least I thought I was having an ordinary day—until I visited the sheep.
