Simon & Schuster Australia has acquired world rights for two new books by bestselling historical fiction author Tania Blanchard.

Her previous two books have sold over 100,000 copies in Australia and New Zealand and her third book Letters From Berlin will be released in October this year.

The first novel in the new contract will publish in October 2022 and like her previous bestsellers, is based on true events. Inspired by her husband’s family roots and how they came to arrive in Australia, this will be set in the gritty coal-mining town of Durham in the late nineteenth century.

S&S publisher Cassandra Di Bello said, ‘We are so excited to have two more books signed with Tania. There is so much passion for her novels, both in-house and from readers, and we have ambitious plans to grow her sales even further.’

Blanchard said, ‘I’m thrilled to continue my productive relationship with Simon and Schuster Australia. The ongoing support of their wonderful, collaborative team has been essential to the success of my novels. I look forward to working on further exciting projects with them.

Tania Blanchard’s first novel The Girl from Munich was shortlisted for the 2018 ABIA Matt Richell Award for New Writer of the Year, while both The Girl from Munich and Suitcase of Dreams are on this year’s Better Reading Top 100 list.
